Almost Paradise

This piece was never meant to exist. I sat down to paint a lake in Montana that I once visited, but my spirit had other plans. 

Somewhere between the soft skies and the bruised mountain shadows, I painted the words I couldn't say out loud.

This painting is about an answer I never wanted, a paradise wrapped in the sweetest, warmest lie. 

There's beauty in heartache, and honesty in the strokes that my conscious mind tried to suppress.

This is heartbreak, disguised as a sunset over waters that were never mine.
